Yesterday, we contemplated the Lord revealing his glory in Mount Tabor, in the presence of chosen witnesses. His face was like the sun in glory, and his garments as white as snow.

Lord, help me to know what your Will for my life is, and how can I come closer each day to fulfill it. Your bread, Lord, is life, and in that life is my happiness. Grant me the grace to be convinced of it and to live it.

The needs of the Church and of souls must move us to pray to God continually, and to do so with still greater urgency when circumstances clearly call for it. Our prayer must always be full of trust. Because in spite of our mistakes and failings, in this very difficult period of the Church's history our Lord has chosen us to be his instruments. The best help we can give the Church is fidelity to our commitment of love and our daily fight for holiness.

Even now, Christ who hung on the Cross with his arms open wide, in the gesture of an Eternal Priest, wants to rely on us, who are nothing, so as to bring the fruits of his Redemption to other people. The Holy Cross is the necessary pre-condition for apostolate to bear fruit, because for us to reach God, Christ is the way; but Christ is on the Cross.

Since our first conscious decision really to follow Christ, no doubt, we made good progress. And yet isn't it true that there is still much to be done? We cannot stay still. We must keep going ahead toward the goal. The fire of God's love needs to be fed. It must grow each day, gathering strength in our soul; and a fire is maintained by burning more things. If we don't feed it, it may die. If you say "enough", you are lost. Go further, keep going. But how?

Forty is used to symbolize a time of testing, purification, and trial. The rain during the Great Flood lasted forty days and forty nights. Each time Moses went up Mount Sinai, he remained there for forty days and nights. The Israelites wandered in the desert for forty years. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples for forty days before ascending into Heaven. Interestingly, forty is even significant within human nature, in that we develop within our mother’s womb for forty weeks before being born.

Our Lord spent forty days and forty nights in the desert being tempted by the devil while He fasted and prayed. Thus, it should also be seen as a symbol of our entire life here on earth. The wording not only symbolizes our entire lives, but the “days” represent the many graces and blessings we sometimes receive, while the “nights” represent the crosses we sometimes endure.

As Christians, our mission is to co-redeem, which means to cooperate as God's instruments so that the fruits of his Cross may reach every soul. God wanted to make great things, but depending on our cooperation.

白孟德神父於1942年1月21日出生於西班牙，白神父於西班牙的畢爾包取得化工學士及碩士學位(Bilbao, Spain)。並於1971年至菲律賓擔任工程師，年僅29歲。
白神父於1981年至羅馬主業團聖十字宗座大學攻讀神學，並於1984年取得神學博士；在1984年5月31日由教宗聖若望保祿二世在羅馬聖伯多祿大教堂領受聖秩聖事（成為主業團神父），在神父晉鐸的紀念相片下方，他寫著：「一位聖人及一位罪人。」

We are not just autonomous zombies floating around each other. Rather, we are connected to each other because we are connected to God, who himself is Relationship as the Trinity.
